English Vantage

Meet the reason behind the company

why was English Vantage created?

English Vantage was created to nurture kids in their true understanding of what they read and to give them the confidence they need to succeed in the classroom.

As an experienced teacher of English around the world for over twelve years, I noticed a decline in the comprehension of what kids were reading. They would read a short text and sound fine, but when asked questions about it, they went “blank”. They clearly didn’t understand what they just read.

There are many factors for this, and one of them is technology. There are automated spell checks, audio books, and AI to do most of the work for students. This means they are not practicing these skills of spelling, reading, writing, making inferences, and others. This is causing a decline in their educational growth and grades.

At English Vantage, these skills are pushed and students are encouraged to try their best and to practice them outside our lessons. Growth will only happen if they put in the work.

Hi! I'm Miss Jennifer

I am so glad you are here!

I have been teaching English in foreign countries for 11 years. I do it as a way to slow-travel and to experience other cultures more fully.

I have taught and lived in South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, China, and spent a couple of weeks in Napoli, Italy as a volunteer English teacher. I have taught to all ages with each student on a different journey to improving their skills.

As an English teacher, I have spent the time, energy, and money on several certifications including a bachelors in vocal performance, a 120-Hour TEFL, the CELTA, and others. My university years were spent in Fresno, California as a music student studying classical singing. You may hear me teaching in a sing-song voice now and then.

I know that the best way to learn a language is by doing. Therefore, I use a communicative approach encouraging my students to speak up, write out, explain, and to really be as involved as possible in the lessons. They are given those silent, "awkward" moments to think for themselves or to answer a question. I know this time is needed to allow them the space to think.

I am excited to meet you and I look forward to helping your child reach their goals in English!

"You made my child no longer resistant to English, I appreciate that."

The amount of homework depends on how much the student wants to do.

Online sessions are designed to be highly interactive and dynamic, ensuring kids aren't just staring at a screen. Classes are kept to an engaging 30-60 minutes to minimize screen fatigue while maximizing learning.

The lessons encourage the student to be a full participant in speaking, reading out-loud, and writing on the screen. Interactive games, including moving games, are used for the moments a student needs to get out of their seat.

Classes are designed to be a safe, encouraging environment. With small group sizes, quieter children are gently involved through low-pressure games and positive reinforcement until they feel confident speaking up.
