Terms of Service

These Terms & Conditions outline the policies and expectations for lessons provided by English Vantage. Know that the policies can change at any given time and proper notice will be given. By enrolling in lessons, both students and parents/guardians agree to the following terms:

Services Offered: Phonics / Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary

Booking and Payments

1. Booking and payments are done on the website.

2. Lessons must be scheduled and paid for 48 hours before the start of the lesson.

 

Lesson Location

1. Classes will be taught on an agreed upon platform.

 

Cancellations / Reschedules / Refunds

1. If the teacher cancels, the lesson will be rescheduled.

2. If a student cancels 24 hours in advance, the lesson may be rescheduled, but no additional make-up lesson is created.

3. If a student cancels within 24 hours, it is considered a missed lessons and is not rescheduled or refunded.

4. Group Class Adjustments:

a) If all but one student drops out, the price of the next lesson (and future lessons) for the remaining student will increase to the individual rate.

b) Any payments made in advance for that remaining student will be adjusted accordingly.

5. Late Arrivals & No-Shows

a) The teacher will wait 15 minutes for the student to join the session. After 15 minutes, the session is marked as absent, and the teacher will leave.

c) All absent/no-show lessons remain fully paid and cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

6. Refunds

a) Due to the fact that a space was held for a student to have live lessons, there are no refunds.

 

Student / Parent Expectations

1. Students must be in a safe and quiet environment for lessons.

2. Students must always have their cameras on. The student must remain fully visible (shoulders and up) to ensure quality pronunciation and attentiveness. Failure to comply may slow the lesson and reduce the amount of material covered.

3. Any form of disrespect in any language, including name-calling, inappropriate language, physical gestures, improper dress code, will not be tolerated. Consequences for inappropriate behavior:

a) Verbal warning.

b) Written warning.

c) Cancellation of the remaining classes.

4. Students are expected to participate by repeating, reading, writing, or asking questions when they don’t understand something. When a new skill is learned, they must practice it outside of class to ensure improvement. Failure to do these things will not allow them to reach their English learning goals.

5. Parents are expected to:

a) Ensure the student is in a quiet, distraction-free environment.

b) Ensure the student has a working device, stable internet, and a suitable learning space.

c) Check in every 15-30 minutes to ensure the student remains engaged and on task.

6. Homework

All homework must be turned in via email to ([email protected]). A student has the option of choosing one of the following. A student may change their decision at any time.

1) No homework

a) The teacher will only write a comment on the lesson in an email.

2) Homework without correction

a) The teacher will write a comment on the lesson in an email.

b) The teacher will send the homework from the lesson.

c) The student completes the assignment on their own using the steps given.

d) The student does not send it back for corrections.

($5 charge per class)

3) Homework with correction under a time limit (Only for serious students)

a) The teacher will write a comment on the lesson in an email.

b) The teacher will send the homework from the lesson.

c) The student will complete the assignment and send it back to the teacher, 24 hours before the start of the next lesson.

d) The teacher will correct the homework and send it back to the student up to 1 hour before the start of the next lesson, depending on the teacher’s availability.

e) The student then checks their mistakes, on their own, before the next lesson.

Failure to turn in the homework on time will result in the student completing and turning in that homework and the next lesson’s homework.

f) There are no second corrections.

g) At any time, if the rules for option 3 homework are not followed after three lessons in a row, homework option 2 will be applied.

*Please respect that the teacher is taking the time to correct and send back all their homework. If the student/parent are not checking their work, the point of the homework and English Vantage's goal of helping students is lost.

Intellectual Property

1.      Students and parents may not record lessons.

2.      Copying, sharing, or reusing lesson materials is not allowed.

3.      All materials remain the property of English Vantage.

 

Privacy & Data Protection

1.      Student information is never shared with anyone outside the lesson relationship.

2.      Parent contact information is stored on a password-protected device.

3.      Class files and details are kept in a secure, password-protected folder.

4.      Lessons are not recorded. If a recording is ever made for promotional purposes, the student’s face will be hidden or blurred.

 

Dispute Resolution

1.      Parents should contact the teacher via email for any concerns.

2.      Messages will receive a response within 48 hours.

3.      All concerns are handled through communication, but no refunds will be issued under any circumstances.

 

Legal & Liability

English Vantage is not responsible for:

1.      Internet issues, device problems, or technical difficulties on the student’s side.

2.      Student behavior, safety, or actions outside the lesson environment.

3.      Lessons are educational support and do not guarantee specific results.

By booking lessons with English Vantage, parents and students acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
